Sector Overview
Nuclear Procurement Is a Different Process — We Understand That
Supplying materials into the Canadian nuclear supply chain requires more than stocking the right grades. It requires active participation in the industry’s pre-qualification and vendor evaluation ecosystem, familiarity with the documentation standards that nuclear quality assurance programs demand, and relationships with the evaluated vendor network that connects buyers with qualified suppliers.
Unified Alloys has been pursuing the nuclear market deliberately. We hold active membership with the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) — the industry association that connects Canadian suppliers with nuclear operators including Ontario Power Generation and Bruce Power — and work with our evaluated vendor partners to support supply into domestic and international nuclear projects.
Our core stainless and CRA product range covers the material families most commonly specified in nuclear balance-of-plant and auxiliary systems: austenitic stainless pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves in 304L and 316L; duplex and specialty alloys for more demanding service conditions. MTRs and full material traceability documentation are standard with all orders.
If you are specifying materials for a nuclear project and want to discuss our qualification status, vendor compliance documentation, or material availability, contact our technical sales team directly.
Nuclear procurement requirements vary significantly by project, owner, and quality assurance level. We do not publish a general nuclear product catalogue — contact our technical sales team to discuss your specific project scope and documentation requirements.
Facilities We Supply
- Nuclear generating station balance-of-plant systems
- Auxiliary and secondary process piping
- Refurbishment and life-extension projects
- New build and capital project supply
- Domestic Canadian nuclear operations (OPG, Bruce Power)
- International nuclear market supply chain
Vendor Pre-Qualification and Quality Documentation
Nuclear owners require suppliers to meet quality assurance program requirements before materials can be purchased for use on site. Unified Alloys participates in the OCNI evaluated vendor ecosystem and maintains the documentation infrastructure — MTRs, material certifications, quality records — that nuclear procurement programs require. Contact us early in your project timeline to discuss qualification requirements.
Typical Grades
All grades — documentation on request
Material Traceability from Mill to Delivery
Full material traceability — from mill certificate through to delivery documentation — is a baseline requirement for nuclear supply, not an optional extra. Every Unified Alloys order is supplied with Mill Test Reports. Our team can provide the additional documentation chain your quality assurance program requires.
Typical Grades
304L · 316L and stocked grades
Balance-of-Plant and Auxiliary Systems
Nuclear generating stations require stainless and CRA piping across a broad range of balance-of-plant applications — cooling water systems, chemical treatment circuits, compressed air, and process auxiliaries — that sit outside the primary nuclear island but still require documented, traceable materials. These are the applications where Unified Alloys' standard stocking programme and documentation capability are most directly applicable.
Typical Grades
304L · 316L · 316 · 2205
Refurbishment and Outage Supply
Refurbishment projects and planned outages at existing Canadian nuclear stations create demand for stainless piping materials on compressed timelines. Unified Alloys' national branch network and 48-hour typical ship time from stock supports outage planning and emergency MRO requirements where lead time is a critical factor.
Typical Grades
304L · 316L — stocked grades, rapid availability
